While we are unfortunately unable to gather on the streets this St Patrick’s Day, that doesn’t mean we can’t celebrate in other ways.

Hundreds of virtual events are taking place all over the world to mark our national holiday, celebrating the art, culture, and music of Ireland.

Brendan Gleeson, The Corrs, and Kojaque are among the Irish talent celebrating St Patrick’s Day online this year.

President Michael D Higgins will be kicking off the day at 10.52am with a St Patrick’s Day message over on the official St Patrick’s Day Festival website, followed by the RTÉ virtual parade which will see people broadcast their own parades from their homes.

Ryan Tubridy has revealed the lineup for the Late Late Show St Patrick's Night Special, which includes appearances by Brendan Gleeson, Paddy Moloney of The Chieftains and members from The Corrs and Clannad.

It airs on RTÉ One at 9.30pm.

Tubs had promised an evening of fun, saying: “It's St Patrick's Night, of course, and we'll be bringing you the lockdown session to end all lockdown sessions. We need a party, so we're going to bring it to you.”

For those who have always wanted to try their hands (and feet) at a stepdance but are unsure of where to start, the official St Patrick’s Day Festival has you covered.

World renowned Irish dancer Emma O’Sullivan will lead a beginners' sean nós dance workshop on Wednesday afternoon, perfect for anyone who hasn’t done an Irish dancing lesson since their primary school days.

No dance experience is required and the class is suitable for both adults and children, starting at 1pm.

Another promising event is Jameson Connects’ global livestream ‘Jessie Reyez and Friends’, which will celebrate the hottest talent in hip-hop and R&B from Ireland and beyond.

The lineup includes Irish trailblazers Kojaque, Denise Chaila, and Unorthodox Coolock as well as Candian artists Jessie Reyez, Junia-T, and Savannah Ré.

The event premieres at 8pm GMT on St Patrick’s Day and is completely free.

Cartoon Saloon, the crew behind the Oscar-nominated animated film Wolfwalkers, will be celebrating Lá Fhéile Pádraig from their hometown of Kilkenny with a special performance at 4pm.

Cartoon Saloon’s composer Bruno Coulais will join trad group Kíla, who collaborated to create the Wolfwalkers soundtrack.

Scenes from the film will provide the backdrop for the performance as part of Kilkenny’s St Patrick’s Day Festival.

For lovers of alternative music, a virtual concert is taking place at 6.30pm in the Guinness Storehouse.

Irish indie group Pillow Queens will perform a set in the famous Liberties landmark on the night, joined by rising star singer songwriter Gemma Dunleavy and spoken word poet Adam Mohamed.

Presented by 2FM DJ and Instagram fashion icon Tara Stewart, this event is not one to be missed.
