Social welfare payment dates to be interrupted by post-office closures over Christmas
Claimants will still receive all payments due
Social welfare payment dates will be interrupted this Christmas and New Year as post offices across the country close their doors for the festive period.
However, recipients will not face disruption to their payment as there are amended dates across Christmas and New Year.
If you receive a weekly social welfare payment, you will get your payment as usual during the week beginning Monday December 20th, and an advanced payment for the following week.
This applies to payments made at post offices, by cheque or directly into your bank account.
Payments due on Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd will be made on Wednesday 22nd.
Those due payment on Christmas Eve, Friday 24th will receive their payment on Thursday 23rd instead.
If you’re due a payment on Monday January 3rd, you will instead receive it on New Years Eve, Friday 31st December.
For people in receipt of a monthly payment, monies due to be paid on Thursday December 23rd, Monday 27th and Tuesday 28th will receive their payment on Thursday December 23rd.
If you're due your monthly payment on Wednesday December 29th or Thursday 30th, you will receive your payment on Thursday December 24th.
COVID-19 Pandemic Unemployment Payment due to be paid on Tuesday December 21st will be in your account on this day. This will include an advanced payment for 28 December.
If you are in receipt of Casual Jobseeker's Allowance/Benefit where you have provided dockets in advance, two payments covering the weeks ending December 21st and 28th or December 22nd and 29th will be paid on Thursday December 23rd.
Normal payment arrangements for week ending 4th and 5th of January will resume on Tuesday January 11th 2022.
If you are receiving Illness Benefit, you are asked to continue sending in your 'Certificate of Incapacity for Work' over the Christmas and New Year period.
All department offices, including Intreo Centres and Branch Offices, will be closed on Monday December 27th, and Tuesday 28th as well as Monday January 3rd 2022.
