The sister of Dublin man Dean McCann has paid tribute after his body was recovered in Galway.

The young man left his family home in Drumcondra, Co Dublin on February 5, and travelled west towards Galway.

His family last spoke to him on the phone at 9.30am the following morning.

At the time he was at Eyre Square in Galway.

Tara previously told sundayworld.com that he had travelled across the country in a bid to help others.

The search for the Dubliner was then stood down on February 13th when his body was recovered 7km away in Dangan, Co. Galway.

Taking to social media, Tara McCann, who had previously posted numerous appeals in a bid to find her 28-year-old brother, shared a picture of her brother with the tribute: "Our amazing Dean. My big brother. The light of our lives.. always and forever."

Many others also shared their condolences with Tara and the McCann family.

“I’m so sorry Tara, thinking of you all and sending love,” wrote one person.

“I am absolutely lost for words! I cannot believe it! Rest in Paradise Dean - you will be truly missed and forever loved! know you will continue to watch over your gorgeous family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam,” said another.
