Challenge Match Promoter Eddie Hearn says Conor McGregor and Youtuber Jake Paul fight would be 'competitive'
BOXING Promoter Eddie Hearn thinks that a fight between Conor McGregor and Youtuber Jake Paul would be "competitive."
The worlds of MMA and Youtube had an unconventional cross-over yesterday when news broke that a boxing match between both outspoken stars may be on the cards.
The 23-year-old American online star, who defeated former NBA star Nate Robinson over the weekend, said his team already started speaking to McGregor’s camp about arranging a showdown.
The Crumlin grappler is scheduled to return to the UFC’s Octagon next month for a rematch with Dustin Poirier.
And while McGregor has yet to comment on the approach boxing, promoter Eddie Hearn has stoked fuel to the online fire by insisting that a match between Jake Paul and The Notorious would be a fair fight.
Hearn currently promotes a number of high-profile boxers including heavyweight Anthony Joshua.
“I think it’s reasonably competitive, especially with the weight difference,” Hearn told Sirius XM Boxing.
“Jake Paul vs. Conor McGregor is a lot more competitive than Conor vs. Floyd Mayweather.”
Yesterday, Youtuber Jake Paul claimed negotiations had begun with McGregor's representatives.
"My team is talking to his manager but that's all I'll say," Jake told TMZ.
"No other fighter with this big of a platform is calling out McGregor. My dogs have more followers than the guy he's fighting in January."
McGregor’s next fight is against Dustin Poirier in the UFC but Paul says he’s definitely going to get in the ring with McGregor.
“I'm going in there to f**k Conor McGregor up," he added.
The world waits for McGregor’s response.
