An elderly man is in “a critical condition” after being rescued from the River Shannon in Limerick on Sunday morning.

The man was pulled from the river at Shannon Bridge in Limerick city by Limerick Fire and Rescue Services at approximately 10.15am.
Gardaí and emergency services arrived at the scene a short time later and the man was rushed to University Hospital Limerick, where he remains in a critical condition.
A garda spokesperson said that no further information is available at this time.
