
RIP Motorcyclist (20s) who died in Galway city crash named locally as Daniel Monaghan
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced
A young motorcyclist who was killed in a crash on a Galway road on Monday night has been named locally.
A local councillor has confirmed that Daniel Monaghan, aged in his 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-vehicle motorbike crash on Bóthar na dTreabh at around 7:30pm.
Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.
The scene was closed for a technical examination by forensic collision investigators and local diversions were put in place until Tuesday morning.
Gardaí continue to appeal for any witnesses to this incident to come forward.
A garda spokesperson said: “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the Bother na dTreabh area at the time are asked to make this footage available to gardaí.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Galway garda station on 091 538000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station.”
