Police investigate the horror stabbing in Newry PIC: PACEMAKER

A man has been repeatedly stabbed in the face in a 'particularly vicious' knife attack in Newry.

The incident happened in the early hours of the morning in the Stream Street area.

The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service responded to the victim after a report was made at around 5.45am.

Medics found the man, aged in his 20s, with several stab wounds to his face.

He was then taken to hospital by the Ambulance Service where he currently remains, undergoing treatment to his injuries.

Inspector Alastair Macdonald said: “This was a particularly vicious attack.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am appealing to witnesses, or anyone with information, to contact us on 101 quoting reference 200 of 05/02/21.”
