Road tragedy Man in his 40s killed in crash in Moyvane, Co Kerry

A man in his 40s has been killed in a tragic road accident in Co Kerry.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward following his death.

The single-vehicle accident occurred in Moyvane, Co Kerry in the early hours of this morning.

Gardaí and emergency services were alerted to the incident on Main Street, Moyvane at approximately 12.40am.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. He was the only person in the car.

Gardai have appealed to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time to make it available to investigating officers.

Meanwhile, the body of the victim has since been removed to University Hospital Kerry where a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The local Coroner has been notified and a post-mortem will be carried out, the results of which will determine the course of the Garda investigation.

A forensic collision investigation will be carried out at the scene this morning. Local traffic diversions are currently in place.

A garda spokesperson said:“Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward and to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) from the area at the time to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
