A post-mortem will be carried out at University Hospital Waterford

A man in his 40s has died after being found unresponsive at a house in Co Carlow.

Gardai are investigating the tragic discovery after they were alerted shortly after 3.30am this morning to a house at New Oak Estate where paramedics were treating an unresponsive man.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later. The local Coroner has been notified and an examination of the scene will be carried out by local Gardaí.

The body will be taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford where a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The results of this will determine the course of the Garda investigation, a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana revealed.

The body of a male in his late teens was discovered at the same address on the morning of Saturday 31 October 2020. His death is being treated as a personal tragedy.
