A man is due to appear in court this morning charged in connection with a violent robbery in Dublin city centre. 

Officers from Store Street station were called to a shop on Moore Street in Dublin 1 yesterday morning.

According to a spokesperson for An Garda Siochana, a man had been approached by security staff who believed he had taken a number of items without paying for them.

The man became violent and threatened and assaulted the security guard.

“At approximately 10.25a.m. one man entered a shop on Moore Street, and left the shop with a number of items which he did not pay for,” read the statement.

“He was stopped by security whom he threatened and assaulted. No one was injured during the robbery.

“The man was arrested by gardaí and taken to Store Street Garda Station where he was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.”

The individual has since been charged in relation to the offence and is due to appear before the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court number 1 this morning, Thursday, November 26, 2020 at 10.30 am.

Gardai have confirmed that the investigation is ongoing.
