A man sustained head injuries after falling from round bales on his farm in Co Longford it has emerged.

According to the Longford Leader, the man is in a serious condition in a Dublin hospital following the accident on Monday evening.

It has been reported that a family member who had returned home raised the alarm after finding him.

He was rushed by air ambulance to Dublin's Beaumont Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí directed inquiries to the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) who are aware of the incident, and confirmed that the matter is currently under investigation.
