Man (80s) killed and three women injured in three-car crash in Co Galway
A garda was arrested and later suspended following a road crash in Co Meath yesterday.
A man in his 80s has been killed and three others injured in a horrific three-car crash in County Galway.
The tragedy occurred shortly before 1pm this afternoon at the intersection of the M6 and M17 motorways.
The man who was driving one of the vehicles involved was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a woman in her 80s, was taken to Galway University Hospital with serious injuries.

Two other female drivers, aged in their 20s and 60s have been hospitalised with non life-threatening injuries.
The road was closed for a period of time as Forensic Collision Investigators examined the scene but has since re-opened. Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing to any road users that may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling in the area at this time to make this footage available to Gardaí.
