RIP Man (80s) dies and two injured in three-way crash on M6 in Galway

A man in his 70s and woman in her 20s were taken to University Hospital Galway to be treated for their injuries, which are understood to be non-life threatening.

A pensioner died in a three-vehicle crash on the M6 in Galway this afternoon.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the tragedy, which took place on the M6 westbound between Junction 18 (Rathmorrissy) and Junction 19 (Oranmore) at approximately 2pm today, Thursday.

The driver of one of the cars, a man aged in his 80s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A man in his 70s and woman in her 20s were taken to University Hospital Galway to be treated for their injuries, which are understood to be non-life threatening.

The road is currently closed as Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and any road users with video footage are asked to make this available to investigating gardaí.
