The man in being treated in Cork University Hospital

A man who was injured in a road crash six days ago has died in hospital.

He was seriously hurt during a collision between his motorbike and a car in Tipperary on December 28, 2021.

He was pronounced dead at Cork University Hospital today (Sunday, January 2).

The incident happened on the N24 at Fawnagowan at approximately 12:45pm.

It is the latest in a spate of tragic road deaths over the Christmas and New Year period in Ireland.

The scene was examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and enquiries are ongoing. The local coroner has been notified and a post-mortem will be carried out.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to this collision to come forward. Those with camera footage from the area at the time (including dash-cam) are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact Tipperary Town Garda Station on 062-80670, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any garda station."
