witness appeal Man (40s) dies following single vehicle crash in Galway

A man has died following a single vehicle collision in Co Galway.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the incident that occurred in Abbeyknockmoy at approximately 6:30am.

The driver (late 40s), who was the only occupant of the vehicle involved, sustained serious injuries during the collision and was taken to University Hospital Galway where he has since passed away.

A post mortem will be conducted at a later date.

The road is currently closed while forensic collision investigators technically examine the scene.

Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí are also appealing for any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) who were travelling in the Abbeyknockmoy area at approximately 6:30am to make this footage available to Gardaí.
