Road tragedy Man, 30s, killed in crash involving car and lorry in Strokestown, Co Roscommon

A young man has died in a road crash in Strokestown, Co Roscommon.

Gardaí are currently at the scene of the incident, which occurred on the N5 road at Cloonfree around 9.30am this morning.

The man in his thirties was fatally injured after his car collided with a lorry. He was subsequently pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has been taken to the mortuary at Roscommon Hospital where a postmortem is set to take place.

The lorry driver, a man in his late forties, was not injured.

Garda Forensic Collision investigators are carrying out an investigation, and the road remains closed with local diversions in place.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have information in relation to this collision to contact them, particularly anyone who was driving in the area between 9:00am and 9:45am.
