Gardai are appealing for witnesses after a man was killed in a single car fatal traffic crash in Drogheda, Co Louth last night.

A garda spokesman said the collision occurred on Carstown Road, Drogheda shortly before 11pm last night when a car left the road a struck a tree.

The driver, a 29-year-old man, was on his own in the car and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Forensic Collision Investigators were called to the scene and the local coroner has been notified by gardai.

A garda spokesman said they are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to come forward.

In particular, they are asking to road users who were travelling in the Ballymackenny Road and Carstown Road areas at the time of the collision and to those with camera footage - including dash cam - to contact them.
