Man (20s) dies two days after being struck by car in Co Meath

Gardaí at Navan are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward

A man in his 20s who was seriously injured when he was struck by a car while out walking in Co Meath on Sunday has died.

The pedestrian had been badly injured in the incident on the R161 Trim Road near Balreask Cross that occurred at approximately 1.30am.

He had been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda where his condition had been described as serious.

The driver and sole occupant of the car was uninjured, gardaí said.

Gardai said in an update this afternoon that he has since passed away.

“Gardaí at Navan are continuing to appeal for witnesses to come forward,” gardai said.

“We are also appealing to any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R161 Trim Road near Balreask Cross between 1am and 1.45am on Sunday to make this footage available.”
