Rescue operation Irish Coast Guard rescue lifeguard in difficulty while surfing in Clare

The Irish Coast Guard was called this morning to rescue a lifeguard who had been surfing in a Co. Clare lake.

The man was transferred to University Hospital Limerick by the Shannon based Coast Guard helicopter R115.

CPR was administered at the scene and on the way to the hospital.

He had gotten into difficulty while surfing in Lough Donnell, Quilty, Co. Clare.

The man is understood to be a well-known local lifeguard.
