After the beautiful, bright sunshine of recent days the weather will become overcast again for a day or two.

Today will see patchy mist, drizzle and fog early on with a few pockets of sunshine possibly developing later. Temperatures will rise to nine and 12 or 13 degrees Celsius in a light to moderate northerly breeze.

It will be a generally dry and overcast night too and it will be misty in parts with further patchy drizzle along north and west coasts.

Heading into the weekend, there will be little change on Friday with dry and mostly overcast skies. However, some sunshine may break through across southern counties.

“High pressure will continue to dominate this weekend bringing mainly dry calm weather,” Met Eireann said. “However, a gradual breakdown will occur into next week as a more mobile Atlantic pushes through.”

It will be a cloudy and misty Friday night with patchy drizzle while Saturday will be overcast, but with a good deal of dry weather.

There will be just some patchy drizzle, mainly on hills and coasts, while the night will be dry overall but also misty with patchy light rain and drizzle, mainly across Ulster and Connacht. Once again though, it will turn colder where skies clear with lowest temperatures of two to seven degrees.

Current indications suggest that Sunday will be the brighter day of the two this weekend, with the best of the sunny spells likely across the eastern half of Ireland.

It will be dull and damp at times in the west of Connacht and the southwest of Munster and highest temperatures will be between nine to 11 or 12 degrees Celsius, in a light westerly or variable breeze.

Cloudy weather with scattered falls of showery rain will move in off the Atlantic on Monday. This will being some sunny spells early on, away from Atlantic counties. Highest temperatures will reach a pleasant 10 to 13 degrees.
