Ireland weather: Met Eireann issue rain and thunderstorm warning for 15 counties

Met Éireann have issued a Status Yellow rainfall and thunderstorm warning for fifteen counties as a deluge is set to hit parts of the country.
The warning covers Monaghan, Cavan, Tipperary, and of Leinster. It comes into effect from 2pm today and will last until 10pm this evening.
Met Éireann predicts that there will be “heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms with a risk of localised flooding” during this time.
The national forecaster added that the heaviest rainfall and thunderstorms will move to the southeast this evening.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country can expect some scattered showers and sunny spells as clouds break throughout the day. Highest temperatures will reach between 18 to 21 degrees with a light to moderate northerly breeze in some areas.

From 10pm onwards, the rain and thunderstorms in the eastern half of the country will die away almost completely, with the exception of some isolated showers.
Tuesday will be a mostly dry day after a wet Monday, with any patchy drizzle affecting northern and western coastal counties at times.
The day will start off cloudy before some sunny spells emerge in the south and the east, becoming more widespread as the day goes on. Temperatures are expected to hit 17 to 21 degrees generally and reach as high as 22 or 23 degrees in parts of the south and east.
In a similar fashion, Wednesday will begin with “a mix of cloud and sunny spells” in the morning but will become “predominantly cloudy” later in the day. Patchy drizzle will continue to affect northern and western coastal counties at times but the rest of the country should remain dry.
Highest temperatures will reach 18 to 23 degrees, but will be a degree or two cooler in Atlantic coastal counties where it stay mostly cloudy, with light to moderate westerly winds.
It will warmer towards the end of the week as sunny spells prevail and temperatures soar to highs of 25 degrees.
Current indications suggest that temperatures will hit the mid-twenties for the weekend too, feeling “very warm” with some good sunshine.
