The country will bask in highs of 15C today, but heavy thundery downpours are expected to lash down in the afternoon.

Met Éireann has warned that there is also a “risk of hail and spot flooding” accompanying the showers, as well as some light to moderate breezes on southern and eastern coasts.

The rain will gradually ease tonight, becoming lighter and more isolated as some clear spells develop.

Counties in Munster will get the brunt of any showers that develop during the night.

Tuesday will begin with sunny spells and dry, stable conditions before the Munster showers make their way inland in the afternoon.

The forecaster has revealed that this rainfall is likely to become heavy and thundery again but will be more isolated in northern and eastern areas.

Balmy conditions will dominate the weather for the remainder of the week, with low pressure achieving highs of 16C on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.

However, some mist patterns are expected to develop on Tuesday night, which should clear by Wednesday morning.

A mix of sunshine and showers is on the cards for Wednesday with some light breezes and some thundery downpours possible.

Any showers will likely be lengthy and slow-moving as breezes remain weak.

Heavy showers will occur on Thursday also, with further risk of hail and thunderstorms but temperatures will remain at highs of 12 to 16C, feeling warmer as sunny spells emerge.

The varying conditions are expected to continue through to the weekend too, as Friday is predicted to be filled with both sunny spells and scattered showers.
