Ireland to heat up as highs of 17C expected today

There's set to be a mixed bag of weather this weekend

Ireland set to bask in sunshine with highs of 17C expected later today.

Although heavy showers are due in the west this afternoon, it will be fresh with a moderate breeze.

Tonight is set to be largely dry with clear spells, and light north easterly winds, Met Eireann say.

As Friday morning breaks, it will be dry with hazy spells of sunshine and isolated light showers.

As the day goes on it will get cloudier over the south with scattered outbreaks of rain.

Friday evening will be breezy with moderate to fresh east to north east winds.

There will be highest temperatures of 13 to 16 degrees.

Coming into the weekend, Saturday morning will be dry with sunny spells over the northern half of the country. It will be cloudier across the South with patches of rain.

Across the afternoon there will be sunny spells and scattered showers, mainly across the south and east. The evening will be dry with highs of 12 to 15C degrees.

Saturday night will be dry with clear spells with a chance of light showers in the east.

Sunday morning will be dry with sunny spells in the morning but scattered showers may develop across the afternoon and evening.

Highest temperatures will reach 11 to 15 degrees, which will be modest in the southwest with light to moderate north easterly wind.

As the weekend draws to a close, Sunday night will be clear with isolated showers.

The mercury will drop to lows of two to six degrees with light to moderate north to northeast winds.
