Gardai are warning drivers to take extra caution in bad weather after the occupants of a car were lucky to escape serious injury in a horrific accident.

The Garda Síochána - Cork, Kerry & Limerick - Southern Region – posted shocking pictures of the badly-damaged red vehicle on Facebook, revealing "Thankfully, nobody was seriously injured’."

It's understood one person was taken to hospital following the crash which occurred between the Listowel Road roundabout and the Dromtacker roundabout on the outskirts of Tralee but their injuries are not serious.

A garda spokesperson said: "Tralee Gardaí attended the scene of this collision this (Sunday) morning. With a yellow weather warning in place until 2pm tomorrow, road conditions and visibility are very poor.
