Gardai have revealed they raided a second suspected shebeen last night - this time in Castleblayney.

As part of Operation Navigation a private premises was searched by Gardaí in Castleblaney, Co Monaghan investigating alleged breaches of liquor licencing legislation at approximately 9p.m.

During the search substantial quantities of alcohol were seized along with beer taps and other bar equipment.

Details of the raid came after gardai had earlier today revealed that they had also carried out a search of a suspected shebeen in Causeway, Co Kerry.

During that operations, gardai discovered with a "fully operational" bar, with beer taps, a cooler room, an 80 inch flatscreen TV, a dartboard and pool table.

The bar featured a number of beer taps, along with a fully operational cooler room with gas lines and cooler to operate the taps.

Tonight, a garda spokesman said the premises in Castleblayney was searched under warrant by officers.

"All of those present were identified by Gardaí. No arrests were made in this phase of the investigations.

"Enquiries are ongoing and a file will now be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

"The COVID-19 Pandemic remains a public health crisis and An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to all citizens to comply with Public Health Guidelines and Regulations in order to continue to save lives."
