Gardaí issue appeal after Kells smash kills three and leaves three kids in hospital

An appeal for witnesses to yesterday’s horrific New Year’s Eve crash in Kells in Co Meath that left three people dead and three children in hospital has been issued by gardai.
A woman in her 20s, who was driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene of the smash that occurred on the N52, at Lloyds, at approximately 4.15pm yesterday
Her passenger, a man in his 20s, was treated at the scene but died as he was being rushed to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown.
Both young people are from the Castlepollard area in Co Westmeath.
The driver of the other car, a female in her 20s, who was from Gorey, was brought to Connolly Hospital Blanchardstown to be treated for her injuries where she later died.

Three young children in the car were brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Drogheda, to be treated for their injuries.
One has since been transferred to CHI Temple Street.
“The road was closed to allow Forensic Collision Investigators to conduct a technical examination of the scene,” gardai said. “It has since reopened.
“We are appealing for any witnesses to this collision to come forward. Any road users who were travelling in the area at the time and who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) are asked to make this footage available.”
