Omeath incident Gardai investigating alleged assault and false imprisonment make third arrest

Gardai who are investigating the alleged assault and false imprisonment of two men in Co Louth have arrested a third person. 

A man in his 30s is currently detained at Dundalk Garda Station after he was arrested by gardai earlier today.

Gardaí are investigating an incident in Omeath on Friday, May 7 when two men, one in his 20s and the other in his 30s were held against their will and assaulted by a group of males after they arrived at a house in the area the day before.

One of the men managed to free himself and raise the alarm. The other man was discovered near Dromad a short time later.

They were treated at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda for injuries described as non-life threatening and have since been discharged.

Gardai have confirmed that this is the third arrest which is part of this ongoing investigation.

“The man is currently detained at Dundalk Garda Station under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007,” they added.
