Gardai in Dublin have been applauded for their diligence in stopping a car they deemed suspicious only to find three Dachshund puppies in the boot.

In a Facebook post, Ronanstown gardaí said they stopped the vehicle in the early hours of this morning (December 15), and found the dogs that are suspected to have been stolen.

“They have been seized and handed over to the care of ISPCA/DSPCA pending enquires,” gardai posted. “If you have any information on the owners of these puppies please contact Ronanstown Gardaí on 01 6667700.”

The post generated numerous replies with members of the public thanking the gardai for their actions.

Great job lads!!” one person wrote while another added, “Well done Garda and thank you.”

“Great work well done,” added another, with one person writing: “Well done Garda thank you for being so vigilant.”

Some animal lovers offered to step in with one saying: “If they need a home no problem.” Another added: “Ah they are gorgeous I hope they get good homes.”
