Gardai have appealed for witnesses to an assault in Limerick over the weekend to come forward

The victim, a young man aged in his twenties, was assaulted in the Clancy Strand area in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Although he was injured during the incident, his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

"It was an unprovoked attack, he suffered facial injuries and all the young man can say is that his attacker was a male," divisional crime prevention officer Sergeant Ber Leetch told the Limerick Leader.

In a follow up response, gardai told sundayworld.com that they are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward.

“Gardaí are investigating an assault that occurred on Clancy Strand, Limerick in the early hours of Saturday morning, 25th September 2021,” the said,

“A male was injured during the incident; his injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

“Gardai attached to Mayorstone Park are appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident to come forward.

They are also appealing to motorists, including taxi drivers, with dash cameras who were on Clancy Strand between 12.15am and 12.30am on Friday night / Saturday morning to make any footage available to them.
