Gardai have appealed for witnesses and dash cam footage after two men aged in their 70s and 40s were injured in a two-car collision in Co Clare last night.

The head-on collision occurred on the R463 at Blackwater, Ardnacrusha, a short distance from Barry’s Cross, shortly before 6pm.

The front of both cars, a Limerick registered silver Ford, and a Dublin registered Opel, were extensively damaged in the collision.

A Garda spokesman said: “At approximately 5.50pm Gardaí attended at the scene of collision involving two vehicles on the R463 at Blackwater, Ardnacrusha.”

“Both drivers, male 40s and 70s, were taken to University Hospital Limerick for treatment.”

“Their injures are not thought to be life threatening and they were the sole occupants.“

The spokesman appealed for anyone with information to contact Henry Street Garda Station on 061-212400.
