Gardaí are renewing their appeal for help in identifying a human skull found off the coast of Dublin 15 years ago.

On February 6th 2006, the remains were caught in a fishing net off the coast of Lambay Island and landed at Rush Harbour in Co. Dublin.

An investigation was carried out at the time, and a clay model head of what the person would have looked like when alive was created.

A DNA profile for the man was made and several people came forward and volunteered their DNA for comparison. Unfortunately, all DNA comparisons were negative, and he has never been identified.

As part of a case review, Professor Caroline Wilkinson from Liverpool John Moores University created an enhanced digital image of what the person may have looked like when alive.

Now, gardaí in Balbriggan are renewing their appeal for help from the public in identifying the man from this new enhanced digital image.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Balbriggan Garda Station on 01-802 0510, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
