In the post shared on social media, the force says: ‘Gardai in Ronanstown recovered this haul of stolen goods from a burglary in Lucan that took place last Sunday.’
The accompanying picture appears to show various cleaning products as well as a kettle.
Witty social media users took to Twitter to make wry comments such as: "I bet they thought they cleaned up."

Another added: "There's no such thing as a clean getaway, when you don't use Persil Automatic."
One person requested: "Any chance I can have the toaster & kettle? They look cool...."
One wit suggested: "Did they mean to rob a list of gear but instead stole what was on their Ma's Xmas shopping list?’
"This is not how drug money laundering is done fellas," another joked.
But the best line must go to: "Probably just get a slap on the wrist......not much of a detergent."
Burglary and related offences have fallen dramatically, recently released Recorded Crime statistics for Q3 2020 show.
The continued impact of Covid-19 on crime trends has resulted in the total number of recorded crimes for the year ending September 2020 falling sharply in the categories of burglary and related offences (down by 3,385, or 20.4 per cent).
Theft and related offences are down by 12,183, or 17.7 per cent and robbery, extortion and hijacking offences are down by 281, or 12 per cent, when compared with the previous 12-month period.
