RIP Funeral for Donegal road crash victim Mary Theresa Hepburn to take place this week

She died on March 7th after she was struck by a vehicle following a crash in Donegal

The funeral for Donegal road crash victim Mary Theresa Hepburn is set to take place this week.

Ms Hepburn, who was in her 50s, was out walking when she was struck by a vehicle following a collision at Guesthouse End Street in Raphoe on March 2nd.

She was rushed to Letterkenny University Hospital and was later transferred to Tallaght University Hospital where she passed away on Monday 7th March 2022.

Her remains are reposing at her home from 5pm to 10pm on March 9th and 10th.

A funeral mass will take place at 11am on Friday March 11th at Eunan’s Cathedral in Letterkenny.

Burial will follow at New Leck Cemetery.

Mary’s death notice reads: “Formerly Mountain Top, Letterkenny. Tragically, as a result of a road traffic accident. Predeceased by mother Bridget (2017). Deeply regretted by father Terry, sister Nicola Mc Cauley (Ramelton), brothers John (Letterkenny), Michael (Letterkenny), Mark (Kilmacrennan), Liam (Mountain Top), Brendan (Mountain Top).”

“Sorely missed by daughters Lisa, Lauren, son Aaron & partner Liam Carlin. Fondly remembered by grandchildren Leigh & Blake, extended family members, neighbours and a wide circle of friends.”

“May her gentle soul rest in peace.”

A full Garda investigation into the cause of the two-vehicle crash is being carried out.

Officers are appealing to any witnesses to come forward and/or to any motorists with dashcam footage.

A garda spokesperson said: "Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have witnessed this collision to contact them. Any person who was on Guesthouse End Road on the afternoon of Wednesday 2nd March at around 2.30pm is asked to contact investigating Gardaí.

"Similarly, any road users who were travelling in the area and who may have camera (including dash cam) footage, is asked to make this available to Gardaí.”
