'Fine young man' Funeral details for tragic Roscommon road crash victim announced

A young Roscommon man who died in a car accident will be laid to rest later this week.

Tadhg Cauneen, of Ballymore, Strokestown, lost his life in the crash just before 9pm on Friday evening.

He died after the car he was driving hit a wall on the N61 Roscommon to Tulsk road at Fourmilehouse.

His funeral mass will take place on Wednesday, August 4th at St Mary’s Church in Carniska at 11am.

A notice on RIP.ie reads: “Predeceased by his father Tim Sweeney and his infant brother T.J. He will be sadly missed by his loving mother Ursula and Tommy, brothers Gary and Eddie, nephews, uncles, aunts, extended family, relatives and friends.

“Removal from the home of Ursula and Tommy to St. Mary's Church, Carniska on Wednesday August 4th, to arrive for Funeral Mass at 11am followed by cremation in Lakelands Crematorium Cavan at 2pm.

“Owing to current Covid restrictions, Tadhg's Mass and funeral is private to family and friends limited to 35 people.

"Condolences may be left on the page below. Thank you for your co-operation and understanding at this difficult time.”

Mourners left messages of condolence for Tadhg's family on RIP.ie.

One said: "Sincere condolences to Ursula and all the family at this sad time. May he rest in peace."

Another said: "Deepest sympathy to Ursula, Tommy, Gary, Eddie, extended family, neighbours and many friends on the tragic death of Tadhg. A fine young man, who will be sorely missed by all. May his gentle soul rest in peace. RIP."
