R.I.P Funeral details for Longford car crash victim Brian Gill announced

The funeral details for tragic Longford car crash victim, Brian Gill, have been announced.

Mr Gill died on Thursday January 20th in a two car collision when the car he was driving collided with an SUV at at Cleenrath just outside the north Longford village of Aughnacliffe shortly after 4pm.

The man in his late 60s, who was the sole occupant of the car, was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

His funeral mass will take place on Sunday, January 23rd at 1pm in St Joseph's Church Purth, followed by burial in the adjoining cemetery.

He is survived by his two daughters, Annmarie and Monica.

His death notice reads: “The death has occurred of Brian (Breen) Gill, following an accident.”

“Deeply regretted by his loving daughters Annmarie and Monica, their mother Kitty and grandson Ethan, brother John, sisters Sheila, Rosemary, Celine, Bernadette, Helen and Rita, brothers in law, sister in law, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

“Reposing at the residence of his sister Bernadette and brother in law Sean Connolly, Culray, Aughnacliffe, Saturday from 12pm until 5pm. Funeral Mass on Sunday at 1pm in St Joseph's Church Purth, followed by burial in adjoining cemetery.”

The family have requested that their home remain private on Sunday morning.
