Stabbing tragedy Funeral arrangements confirmed for tragic stabbing victim Michael McDonagh

THE funeral of Michael McDonagh, who was tragically killed in Mayo this week, will take place in Knock on Saturday. 

Gardaí have charged a man in his thirties in connection with the fatal stabbing which took place on Monday morning.

According to the death notice, the funeral cortege will arrive at the Church of St. John The Baptist, Knock for Mass at 1 pm.

The private service will be followed by the burial in Knock Cemetery.

Due to HSE and government guidelines, the funeral will be private for family only however the mass can be streamed online via www.rip.ie.

The notice writes: “Michael Francis McDonagh, 22 Carrowmore Drive, Knock died tragically on November 16.

“Deeply regretted by his mom and dad Winnie and Bernie.

“Sadly missed by his mother Ellen, father Thomas, brother Jason, sisters Annie, Ellie, Mary, Samantha, Fiona, Donna, Linda, Tina, Mary, Winnie, Bridget Marguerite, brothers Patrick and William, grandparents Oweny and Annie, uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins relatives and many friends.”

Tributes flooded in for Michael on the condolences section of the website.

“So sorry on the death of Michael, such a handsome lad sympathy to all the family, may his gentle soul rest in peace,” wrote one Mayo mother.

“Our deepest sympathy to the Mc Donagh and extended families on the passing of Michael Francis. May he rest in peace,” wrote Cllr Richard Finn from nearby Claremorris.
