A fundraising appeal has been launched to help repatriate the remains of missing Irishman Andrew Furey.

The 48 year old from Co. Antrim was last seen on the evening of Monday April 11th in Amsterdam.

The Lisburn man was at Coco’s bar near Rembrandtplein but failed to make it to the apartment he had booked for later that evening.

Following a search by police his body was located on Wednesday April 20th.

The fundraiser reads: “Andrew is the dearly beloved son of Sean and Marjorie and loving brother of Eileen, Eamonn, Aidan, Gerard, Joanne, Mary and Martin and beloved uncle to all his nieces and nephews.”

“The family are heartbroken and would like Andrew to be brought home as soon as possible.

“Please consider giving whatever you can to help the family at this incredibly difficult time, to ensure Andrew can be brought home to peacefully rest surrounded by his beloved family and friends.”

Funeral arrangements are yet to be decided.
