A fundraising appeal launched by friends and neighbours of a young Irish mum who was murdered in London has almost reached its £20,000 goal.

A total of £18,098 has been raised to allow the children of the late Nicole Hurley, who had strong links to Kerry, to rebuild their lives.

The 37-year-old mum of four was found with stab injuries at 1am on Sunday by officers following calls about a disturbance in Broxwood Way, Primrose Hill.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 40-year-old man, Jason Bell, was charged with murder, false imprisonment and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.

He was due to appear in court in London on Tuesday.

It has been reported that Ms Hurley's late grandfather, Patsy Hurley who was from Killorglin, was lifelong president of the Kerry Association London.

Brigitte Clements, who is organising the GoFundMe fundraiser, said that Kingsland where Nicole had lived was a “tight knit and beautiful community based in North London”.

“This weekend tragedy hit our community,” she wrote. “Jason, Nicole, Violet and Amira Bell tragically lost their mother in the most terrible of circumstances.

“These children have been the heart of our community. They help carry groceries for you if they see you carrying bags. They offer to water your plants when you are away.

“They come and offer to help to paint and repair whenever someone is busy tinkering. These children are not average. These children are extraordinary, and this is a testament to their incredible mother.

“They are bright, ambitious, curious and generous. They are four individuals that give you hope in what the future generation will bring. In one evening these children lost everything.”

The appeal adds that the objective of the fundraiser is to “fully fund the funeral and associated costs to help this family through this difficult time”.

“Whatever extra money we can fundraise will go to support these four unbelievably incredible children rebuild their lives," it adds.

"We can't change the past but we can have an impact on the future. As a community let's rally together and show our love.

"This is in memory of Nicole Hurley,” it adds. “Michelle, sister of Nicole, Tom, father of Nicole, Jason, Nicole, Violet and Amira - we love you and we support you.

“We will pull together as a family as we always do and ensure that the four most amazing children have the best possible lives.”

People have flooded the comments section with best-wishes and regards for Ms Hurley’s family.

“Take good care of you and your family Ryan. I know you guys are more than strong. Lots of love,” one person has written.

“My heart goes out to you all as a mother. Rest In Peace beautiful. Sending love and condolences from Somerset,” adds another.

“My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this difficult time. Sending my love to the children and RIP beautiful," added another.
