Four people were taken to hospital after a truck smashed through crash barriers on the M50.

The incident occurred near Junction 16 at the Cherrywood turn-off in the early hours of this morning.

A pick-up truck went off the road before smashing through crash barriers at around 1.20am.

Sharing images of the accident on Twitter, Dublin Fire Brigade said: “Firefighter/Paramedics from Dun Laoghaire were part of a multi-agency response to an RTC on the @M50Dublin J16 overnight.”

“Four people were treated and transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries."

Those injured in the accident were given first aid treatment at the scene by Fire Brigade paramedics before they taken to St Vincent's Hospital.
