Nearly seven years ago lovely Laura Fox won the Miss Sunday World beauty pageant.

And when she was put forward for the Miss Ireland competition and asked what is her dream job she immediately replied: "A TV presenter."

Fast forward to today and the Galway beauty has now amazingly achieved her ambition as on Thursday she will co-present the Junk Koutoure fashion show on RTÉ2.

It's all a far cry from when Laura (30) was hanging out in her wellies with the Sunday World team at the Electric Picnic for photoshoots.

Since then her career has gone meteoric, from stints on Galway Bay FM as a DJ to presenting radio shows on 2FM and RTÉ Pulse.

"I want to be a TV presenter, that's all I want to do, all I've ever wanted to do," she beams. "So to get to do it now, I just can't tell you, it feels like it's forever coming but at the same time it feels like it's all coming together now."

Laura, who hails from Moylough, Co Galway, is not only thrilled for herself but for her biggest fan - her granny.

"My granny is a massive fan of everything I do... she has been saying for years that she wanted to see me on the TV, so she was delighted."

Laura and her co-host Emma Power have pre-recorded the show, in which students design imaginative clothes and hats made from junk and discarded material.

The couple got to team up with celebrity judges Louis Walsh and Michelle Visage.

"We actually didn't get to meet them, they had to come in by video link for the interviews," she explains.

"Michelle was actually over in the US and she was deadly, she was just a ball of energy.

"I'm a massive RuPaul Drag fan."

About the finalists Laura says: "It is absolutely ridiculous how talented these students are, and how much they can pull out of their imagination."

The final was originally meant to be last April, but will now finally happen on Thursday.

  • Junk Kouture RTÉ2 Thursday 7pm.
