England soccer games help top most watched programmes by Irish viewers in 2021

The most-watched broadcasts in Ireland in 2021 included two of England’s football matches in the Euro 2020 Championships.
The games; Italy V England in the final, and the semi-final playoff with England against Denmark, ranked at third and fourth respectively, with the Italy game being watched for 941.3 hours and the England V Denmark game watched for 888.8 hours.
Topping the programmes watched was RTÉ’s Late Late Toy Show followed by the All Ireland football final between Tyrone and Mayo.
The Orpah Winfrey interview with the Duke of Sussex, Harry and Meghan Markle, was the fifth most popular show, with the Ireland V France Six Nations rugby game sixth.

Meanwhile, the hit crime drama Kin was at 15th with the Ireland V Portugal football game in the World Cup Qualifiers at 16th.
Ireland’s Fittest Family also topped the polls at 19th and Mrs Brown’s Boys was at No 21.
RTÉ reported Irish viewers watched 3.7bn hours of TV during the year.
Seven of the top ten programmes were watched by sports fans, with the Italy V England final of the Euros attracting almost a million viewers.
Fair City also attracted a huge amount of viewers, being streamed 3.3 million times on RTÉ.
