Motorists on the M50 are being advised to drive with caution as smoke from a vehicle fire may impact conditions on the motorway.

Emergency services are dealing with a burning truck on the northbound route between Junction 12 and Junction 11.

A photo from the scene shows several firefighters gathered on the road with a fire brigade and other emergency vehicles in the left hand lane.

It's understood the truck may be carrying fertiliser.

AA Roadwatch said: "On the M50 northbound, emergency services are dealing with a vehicle fire between J12 Firhouse and J11 Tallaght in the auxiliary and left lanes.

"Take care on this stretch as smoke may be affecting visibility. Traffic is slowing on approach."

A garda spokesperson told Sundayworld.com: "A truck was on fire on the M50 at Junction 11 inbound this morning at approximately 6.30am. Gardaí and emergency services attended."

Elsewhere in Dublin, traffic has also been affected by a burst water main in Phibsborough.

Busy Prospect Rd is down to one lane inbound just after Hart's Corner at the Whitworth Rd junction due to a burst water main. Gardai are directing traffic at the scene, with delays on approach.
