hazard fears Eight fire units battling massive blaze at West Dublin industrial site
Residents in south west Dublin have been advised to keep all windows and doors closed as a massive fire rages in the area.
Dublin fire crews are battling the huge blaze this evening.
There are eight fire units attending the large fire at an industrial estate in Ballyfermot.
They are advising local residents to close all their windows if they are affected by the plumes of smoke.
"8 units are currently attending a large fire in an industrial premises in #Kylemore Ballyfermot," the brigade tweeted.
"As a precaution close all windows if you're affected by the smoke plume."
Local public representatives took to Twitter to warn locals of the hazards.
Cllr Daithí Doolan also tweeted: ‘Reports from DFB that 8 units are currently attending a large fire at Thortons recycling plant on Killen Rd, Ballyfermot. Ballyfermot, Drimnagh, Inchicore keep windows closed.’
Brid Smith TD advised: "Keep all windows and doors closed in Ballyfermot/ Inchicore and surrounds - toxic smoke from blaze at Thornton’s Waste recycling plant
Daithí de Róiste added: "Massive fire at Thorntons Recycling facility in Ballyfermot. Hope everyone is safe and well and no staff were there at the time. Important to find out what (if any) hazardous materials are there as smoke billowing over residential homes. Stay safe. "
