The East Cork pub formerly owned by comedian Pat Shortt is up for sale.

The Hunted Hog, which was previously known as Pat Shortt’s, in Castlemartyr is going for a guide price of €475,000.

Sitting on the Cork-Waterford road and Castlemartyr’s main street, the gastropub also boasts a bar, restaurant and beer garden.

It was renamed The Hunted Hog in 2016 after the local legend of the hunt for a 600lb boar that terrorised Castlemartyr locals in the 15th Century.

The seller, Sherry Fitzgerald, advertised the pub as an “excellent opportunity due to its “friendly” atmosphere and “vibrant” customer base.

They wrote: “Located in the heart of Castlemartyr village in East Cork, The Hunted Hog is a popular pub offering traditional food and drink and is best known for its warm and friendly atmosphere, live Irish music, inviting character, and vibrant mix of both locals and visitors.

“Due to its position on a prominent corner site and located on the main Cork-Waterford thoroughfare, the establishment is popular with locals and passing tourist and businesspeople alike.

“This is a great opportunity to acquire an existing business with excellent turnover figures in a prime location with potential for future development.”
