Epic journey Dublin teens complete six-day walk from Coolock to Cliffs of Moher for 'amazing' school

From Coolock to the Cliffs of Moher, two Dublin lads have successfully completed their cross-country walk after a six-day journey. 

The 19-year-olds walked an average of 10 hours a day, every day since they started on their epic journey at 4am on June 27.

Scott Ward and Derek O'Brien who set off on the adventure to raise funds for Abacus Special School in Kilbarrack, Dublin, have raised over €67,000 so far.

The pair, who had been updating their progress on social media, finally posted a snap of themselves over the weekend as they declared: “And we MADE IT."

"Thank you all so much for coming to the cliffs yesterday in the rain!!!” they added. “"It was an absolute pleasure seeing everybody and I can’t thank you all enough for the experience.

"Looking forward to the recovery room later on today, I will keep you all posted."

The lads embarked on the epic trip as Scott’s four-year-old cousin Lucas, and Derek’s six-year-old cousin Conor both attend the school.

On their GoFundMe page, Scott said the work they do is “amazing.”

He added: “I know the amazing work they do each time I see Lucas in his progression. This school is amazing, and I wanted to say thank you for the support they have given him and my aunty and uncle.”
