A Dublin garda has earned praise after rescuing an injured swan from the Grand Canal banks.

Karl O’Reilly from Kilmainham Garda Station rescued the stricken bird after being alerted by people in the area.

In a tweet, An Garda Síochána said: “Garda Karl O’Reilly from Kilmainham Garda Station rescued an injured swan from the banks of the Grand Canal after passers-by alerted the Gardaí.
