This was the dramatic scene in Dublin last night after a car burst into flames.

Firefighters from Kilbarrack Fire Station tackled the blaze and managed to extinguish the flames before further damage was caused.

“This fire was caught early so spread or heat damage to the shops was prevented,” Dublin Fire Brigade tweeted.

“It takes about 1,000 litres of water to fully extinguish a standard car,” they added.

It was a busy night for the emergency services in the city last night, as gardaí also attended a two- car road traffic collision on the South Circular Road shortly after 10.30pm.

“A woman in her 50s, the driver of one of the cars and her passenger, a 17-year-old girl, were taken to St James’s Hospital to be treated for their injuries,” gardai said.
