Dublin Fire Brigade attended the scene of a gas leak in Rialto this afternoon, as Luas were forced to suspend tram services in the area.

The force said they were working with Gas Networks Ireland to resolve the incident.

“We're currently attending a suspected gas leak off James Walk in #Rialto”

Firefighters from Dolphins Barn and HQ attended the scene of the incident.

A number of ambulances were also seen speeding towards the area, however, no injuries were reported.

At 2pm today, they asked Luas to suspend services on the Red Line as a precaution.

Just after 3pm they handed the scene over to Gas Networks Ireland and advised that the Luas should resume shortly.

“Red Line passengers please be advised due to a request from Dublin Fire Brigade there is currently no service between Blackhorse and Heuston. Services are operating from Saggart / Tallaght to Blackhorse and from Heuston to The Point / Connolly. Tickets are valid on Dublin Bus,” a spokesperson for Luas said.

“Please be advised Red Line services are operating with delays following earlier request from Dublin Fire Brigade. Please allow extra time to travel while we regulate services back to operating normally. We apologise for any inconvenience caused,” they added.
