There have been five further deaths linked to Covid-19 in Ireland and 720 new cases, the Department of Health has confirmed.

This brings the death toll to 1,890, and the total number of Coronavirus cases here to a total of 58,767.

Of the cases notified today, 228 are in Dublin, 130 in Cork, 47 in Galway, 31 in Meath, 27 in Limerick and the remaining 257 cases are spread across another 20 counties.

Some 348 are men and 371 are women.

The median age is 32 years old, and 65pc are under 45 years of age

As of 2pm today, 341 Covid-19 patients are hospitalised, of which 38 are in ICU.

Twenty-nine additional hospitalisations occurred in the past 24 hours.
