There are growing concerns for the welfare of missing Irish man Cian McLaughlin from Dublin who has not been seen since he went hiking in the US one week ago.

Fresh appeals for information have been issued by authorities in Wyoming where McLaughlin had gone hiking in Grand Teton National Park on June 8.

As searches continue for the 27-yer-old, the park posted an update on its Facebook page, stating that he was last seen around 2.30pm that Tuesday, approximately a half mile from the Lupine Meadows Trailhead, “hiking to an unknown destination”.

“McLaughlin was last seen wearing a cutoff tank top and shorts (unknown color), a bucket hat, and round sunglasses,” the post reads.

“He was not wearing a backpack. McLaughlin is described as six feet tall and 180 pounds.

“He has brown eyes and brown, collar length hair that he sometimes wears in a bun. He is said to be thin and has an Irish accent.”

The post appeals to “anyone who has travelled in the Teton backcountry since Tuesday, June 8, (and who) may have seen him.

“If you have information regarding his whereabouts, please contact the National Park Service Investigative Services Branch,” it adds.

McLaughlin wasn't reported missing until June 12 after he failed to show up for work on June 10.

Ground searches are currently under way with 40 staff from the national park involved.

Four local search and rescue dog teams and members of Teton County Search and Rescue have also been involved in the search operation for the missing man.

In addition, aerial reconnaissance operations are taking place.

McLaughlin’s vehicle was found at the Lupine Meadows trailhead on Sunday, three days after he failed to show up to work. But ground and aerial searches initiated in probable locations that he may have been hiking did not return any immediate results.

“Aerial reconnaissance and ground search operations were conducted in high probability areas in the park on Sunday, June 13, in search of McLaughlin with no evidence or leads about his whereabouts,” park officials reported in a news release.

“Search operations will continue early Monday morning.”

McLaughlin is from Dublin, Ireland, but lives in Jackson, according to his Facebook profile.
